The Camino Way or Way of st. James
The Camino de Santiago is a pilgrim way, or path, which runs from the Pyrenees in France to Santiago de Compostela in northwest Spain. Pilgrims have been walking the Camino for over 1000 years. It is certainly an actual physical and in places a strenuous journey of 800 kms from beginning to end. Yet pilgrims comment that as they trek westward up mountains and on through forests and country paths. They find themselves begin to also journey inward and downward towards their own personal roots and on to a more peaceful place or centre within themselves.
The images here were taken along stage eight of what is known as ‘The French Way’ from Sarria, through Galicia to Santiago de Compostela.
